Adam Lambert Shrugs Off AMAs Controversy
16 hours ago | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »
Everyone's aflutter about Adam Lambert's racy performance at the American Music Awards on Sunday - except Adam Lambert. "I'm not a babysitter, I'm a performer," Lambert, 27, tells Ryan Seacrest in an interview on the latter's Web site, adding, "The spirit of rock and roll is alive and well." Not on ABC, which apparently didn't approve of Lambert's stage show in which he French-kissed a band member and simulated oral sex. The network has made it clear that Lambert won't be performing on its morning program. It cancelled an appearance on Good Morning America slated for Wednesday after receiving over 1,500 complaints about the Sunday broadcast. »

“Moon” Shines Brighter

Everyone was wrong. That's the only conclusion one can draw from the actual box-office figures for The Twilight Saga: New Moon when compared not only with weekend forecasts but also with official estimates released on Sunday. Sunday's figures were based on actual results for Friday and Saturday and an educated guess as to how much the movie would earn on Sunday. In the end it turned out that Sunday's business exceeded Summit Entertainment's guesstimate by a whopping $2.1 million. In the end, the movie actually earned $142.8 million for the three days -- the most any film has ever made outside of summer and behind last year's The Dark Knight (with $158 million) and 2007's Spider-Man 3 ($151 million) on the all-time list. Before it opened on Friday, box-office fortune tellers had predicted it would earn $80-100 million, and those predicting it would cross the $100-million mark were dismissed as moon-blinded know-nothings. But while the domestic estimates seemed to have been conservatively lowballed, the international ones seemed downright off-base. Summit said late Monday that the film actually earned $132.1 million -- or $14 million more than the Sunday projection. That brought the worldwide total to $274.9 million. Today's (Tuesday) Los Angeles Times explained the discrepancy by observing that, unlike the major studios, Summit does not have its own foreign distribution operation but instead relies on a number of smaller distributors who take their time reporting ticket sales. Indeed, some of them have yet to disclose weekend totals in some markets. »
Fox Spring 2010 schedule includes 'Idol' launch, 'Human Target,' 'Past Life' premieres
12 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »
Fox has announced its full slate of plans for Spring 2010 and, not surprisingly, it has only a slight resemblance to the schedule announced by the network at upfronts in May. Certainly the marquee announcement in Fox's Tuesday (Nov. 24) afternoon release is the formal scheduling of the premiere of "American Idol." TV's most popular show will return on Tuesday, Jan. 12 (8 p.m. to 10 p.m.) and Wednesday, Jan. 13 (8 p.m. to 9 p.m.). The Wednesday premiere is only an hour to allow Fox the chance to premiere "Our Little Genius," which is slightly confusing since "Our Little Genius"... »

ABC Says It Was Blindsided By Lambert
12 hours ago | Studio Briefing - TV News | See recent Studio Briefing - TV News news »
Reminiscent of CBS's explanation in the aftermath of the Janet Jackson "wardrobe malfunction" in 2004 that it was caught off guard by the incident, ABC maintained on Monday that it had not expected the sexually explicit behavior of Adam Lambert during his performance on Sunday night's American Music Awards telecast. At no time during the rehearsal did one of Lambert's dancers simulate oral sex on the singer and at no time did Lambert kiss one of the male musicians, the network insisted. "We did not expect the impromptu moments," a spokeswoman for Dick Clark Productions, which produces the awards telecast, told Reuters. Lambert acknowledged that he often departs from the script. "I like to have a framework and just do stuff, so that kind of came about because of the connection that I had with that dancer," he told the Associated Press. In a separate interview with Reuters, he said that »
Carla Bruni accepts Woody Allen film proposal

Model turned singer says she 'might be hopeless' but is willing to work with director in unspecified role
The story of how a supermodel turned singer came to conquer the heart of a rightwing head of state may sound far-fetched enough for any romantic comedy.
Now Carla Bruni, the wife of the French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, has the chance to bring her life experience to the big screen after agreeing to a request from Woody Allen to appear in his next film.
France's first lady, appearing on television last night to perform a cover of the Beatles' And I Love Her with the Us entertainer Harry Connick Jnr, said Allen had asked her to work with him after a visit to Paris in June.
"Woody Allen kindly asked me not to do a film with anyone else before him," she said, admitting that she had said yes. She did not »

It was the perfect ending to “an emotional roller coaster season” Donny Osmond told People minutes after he and partner Kym Johnson were awarded the Season Nine mirror ball trophy. Guy Pearce Joins The Hungry Rabbit Jumps
1 hour ago | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »
Production Weekly has Tweeted the news that, with just two weeks before cameras are set to roll, it'll be Guy Pearce stepping aboard the production of The Hungry Rabbit Jumps, the new thriller from Roger Donaldson.Details of the story are still sketchy, but everyone seems agreed that Nic Cage plays an ordinary guy who turns to a vigilante group to set things right when his wife (January Jones) is assaulted. Our first guess is that Pearce would be playing the leader of the vigilante group - he can certainly pull off dangerous as well as he can do charismatic. But then, he could be playing a cop - as we say, a lot of blanks are yet to be filled in on this one. What we can be sure of, is this project's potential: Cage is on so-hot-right-now form with Bad Lietenant: Port Of Call, New Orleans and Kick-Ass, »
Exclusive: Nativity Goes X Factor
1 hour ago | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »
If the poo and wee bit of the Christmas Brit-flick’s trailer made you feel like gagging, this excerpt with Martin Freeman should go some way to making you feel less sick, being as it is a) cute and b) featuring less of Marc Wootton’s insanely annoying classroom assistant, Mr Poppy.Reuniting Freeman with his Confetti director Natalia Isitt for more improvised comedy, Nativity follows two rival primary school teachers’ attempts to put on a show-stopping Nativity play and get a five-star review from the local critic, played by love-him-or-throw-him-from-nearest-cliff comedian Alan Carr. Fed up with always coming second in the reviews, Freeman’s teacher tells a giant fib that his Hollywood producer ex-girlfriend (played by Extra’s Ashley Jensen) is coming to film his show, leading to a frantic amount of showing-off, backstabbing and all the other things associated with Christmas. In this scene, little pupil Bobby and »

Scream’s post-modern scares are going to need some serious rebooting when it comes to shooting the fourth film next spring – lest we forget, Scary Movie's about to hit number five, God help us – but the good news is that Emperor Of Horror Wes Craven will very likely there to see the blood spillage is in safe hands. The franchise’s main screamer, Neve Campbell – who, after five years living in the UK, is so anglicised that she may well be the last person alive to own a Blockbuster card* – is getting ready to bring her best worried face out of the loft when shooting starts next spring, and told Black Book: “I’m pretty sure at this stage that Wes Craven is back on board to direct and Kevin Willamson is definitely writing it...so it is going to be great.”While Craven had previously said he »

Jackson talks Tintin and The Hobbit

Peter Jackson was in London last night for the premiere of The Lovely Bones, his much vaunted adaptation of Alice Sebold's 2002 best-seller - click here to read our review - but he was also in a chatty mood about his upcoming projects, namely Tintin and The Hobbit. Starting with Tintin, Jackson says that Spielberg has finished filming and has 'cut the film together using the motion captured footage, so it exists in a very rough state.' The bad news is that it is going to take two years to complete the computer animation, with the...

The next installment of the Scream franchise is set to begin filming in April next year, and although stars of the first trilogy Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox have been confirmed to return, one ingredient has been missing - original director Wes Craven. Craven has apparently been wating to see a finished script before signing on the dotted line, but in a recent interview, Neve Campbell has stated she is "pretty sure" he will return to direct the film. The script is currently being written by Kevin Williamson, the man...

Shrek Forever After Pics Online

USA Today have the first images from the fourth, and apparently, final big screen Shrek movie, Shrek Forever After. To be honest, they're not all that scintillating (check them out here). Of greater interest though, are the newspaper's quotes from director Mike Mitchell on new plot points and characters. The basic story has not changed - Shrek (Mike Myers) has lost his moj- sorry, roar, and finds himself in the company of slippery deal-maker, Rumplestiltskin (Walt Dohrn - not, you'll note, Paul McCartney; don't believe everything you read on IMDb). The grumpy green one is conned into a deal where by finding out what would happened if he never existed, he finds himself in a skewed, It's A Wonderful Life-gone wrong parallel universe where Donkey (Eddie Murphy) pulls a cart, Puss In Boots (Antonio Banderas) is fat and lazy, Rumplestiltskin is king, and, as promised - no-one knows who Shrek is. »
Carla Bruni For Next Woody Allen?

Folks, what can we say - it's coming up on Turkey Day (that's Thanksgiving, for the uninitiated) over in the States, which we suspect is why news coming out of Hollywood is at less than a trickle. To fill the void in your film news-reading time, we offer the following update on a bizarre non-story from mid-2008, with the report from France that Carla Bruni-Sarkozy - yes, French President Nicolas Sarkozy's missus - has apparently taken Woody Allen up on his offer of a role in a future project. Now, that's not to You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, which the auteur director is currently in post-production on (the one with Anthony Hopkins, Frieda Pinto, Josh Brolin, Antonio Banderas and Naomi Watts), but most likely the one after. If we're adhering to Woody's one drama/one comedy routine, Bruni will be appearing in a funny one. It's not »

New York (AP) - Donny Osmond was declared the new champion of "Dancing with Stars" on Tuesday night, taking home the show's mirror ball trophy in the season finale of the ABC contest reality program. Osmond, the former teen pop star of the singing Osmond family, said the show has been a highlight in a career of ups and downs. "I did it!" Osmond exclaimed. He promptly rushed to the audience and plucked out his wife, Debbie, whom he carried across the stage.
