Hollywood's Least Funny Comics

16 November 2009 11:40 AM, PST | newser.com | See recent newser news »

You rarely see Carrot Top or Gallagher anymore, but showbiz is still full of guys who just aren’t funny. Sarah Bell of Newsweek points out the worthiest tomato targets: Larry the Cable Guy: A really, really poor man’s Jeff Foxworthy, minus any actual jokes. Carlos Mencia: Makes a living mocking mentally handicapped people and “beaners.” Dave Chappelle, he ain’t. Howie Mandel: Probably funny once, “but it’s hard to preserve your comedic edge when your day job is pretending to use a stupid prop telephone to call a silhouette.” Dane Cook: He’s spread himself too thin and now seems “more intent... »

The music mogul – who judges ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and ‘The X Factor’ in the UK and ‘American Idol’ and ‘America’s Got Talent’ in the Us - has topped a list of Prime Time TV’s Top Earning Men compiled by respected financial publication Forbes magazine. Real estate mogul and ‘The Apprentice’ star Donald Trump came in second place after banking $50 million in the period June 1 2008 to June 1 2009, with ‘American Idol’ presenter Ryan Seacrest in third place with earnings of $38 million. Ryan’s earnings were generated from his hosting duties, radio show and production on programmes including ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ but does not include the three-year $45 million deal Ryan signed this summer with 19 Entertainment as it will count towards his earnings next year. You can buy a lot of chest-hair-baring T-shirts with $75 million. Forbes magazine estimates that "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell pulls down that much loot every year, making him the top-earning man in prime time in the U.S.

That haul easily put him ahead of the #2 gentleman on the list, "The Apprentice" host Donald Trump ($50 million), not to mention Cowell's frequent verbal sparring partner, the second-hardest-working-man-in-show- business, "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest, who rounds out the top three at $38 million. The calculations are based on estimated pre-tax earnings from June 1, 2008 to June 1, 2009.

Like Cowell — who also has a record label and several other TV hosting gigs and has shepherded the careers of singers like Susan Boyle and Leona Lewis — many of the men on »

Lady Gaga Is Trying to Be Like Megan Fox

4 November 2009 5:58 AM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

It takes more than a revealing outfit and a hot body to be Megan Fox. It takes a mouthful of inappropriate sound bites. Lady Gaga is well on her way. Known for wearing little more than a leotard—giant hats excluded—the pop star was honored Monday with the Stylemaker Award at the 13th annual Accessories Council Excellence Awards. She didn't disappoint when she donned one of her hefty signature lace headpieces. However, when she finally lifted the veil to speak, what came out was a Fox-worthy (not to be confused with Jeff Foxworthy) phrase, pointing out her favorite accoutrement to any outfit. It wasn't quite what we expected. "I think we all must remember that the... »

Jeff Foxworthy: Kids Want ‘All Your Time’

21 September 2009 10:00 AM, PDT | People - CelebrityBabies | See recent People - CelebrityBabies news »

Entertainment Press/Splash News Online Quantity or quality? For comedian, television host and dad-of-two Jeff Foxworthy, the answer is clear. “As a parent, I’ve found out that kids don’t want ‘quality time’ with you, they want ‘quantity,’” he tells Parade. “In fact, they want all of your time.”

Although “interaction and communication” are important, Jeff says that “just your presence there in the house means the world to them.” To that end, he recently put his theories to the test with daughters Jordan Lane, 17, and Julianne, 15.

“I asked my girls, ‘Would you rather see me once a week and we go to Disneyland, or would you rather just have me here every night?’ And they said, ‘Every night.’”

Determined to chart a different course than his own father who “left at an early age,” Jeff says that he’s turned down roles because they would take him away from home. »

Jeff Foxworthy Is A Big Blue Ox

3 September 2009 7:05 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Every great hero needs a sidekick, of course, and the giant lumberjack Paul Bunyan has always been paired with his big blue ox Babe, who didn't really have a personality, but at least seemed pretty loyal and a good pet to have during a fight. But in the movie version of Paul Bunyan's story, the MGM animated feature Bunyan & Babe, that ox will be given a personality by none other than Jeff Foxworthy. THR is reporting that Foxworthy will join the cast alongside John Goodman, who will voice Bunyan, and Kelsey Grammer, playing an evil developer whom Bunyan & Babe must stop from destroying a town. It's been a long time since I was at all interested in Foxworthy's comedy, but he seems perfectly well-suited to the donkey-from-Shrek kind of sidekick role. It's a movie that seems very much aimed toward kids anyway, so as long as it makes them happy, »

Jeff Foxworthy to Voice Babe the Blue Ox in Bunyan & Babe

3 September 2009 6:27 AM, PDT | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Jeff Foxworthy has been cast to voice the role of Babe the Blue Ox in MGM's upcoming animated feature Bunyan & Babe.

The movie is a modern-day twist on the classic 19th-century story of Paul Bunyan, a giant lumberjack who befriends the equally giant Babe. This new version will involve two present-day children who wander into a forest and stumble upon a portal leading to a hidden world where Paul Bunyan has lived for more than 100 years as a recluse.

This aspect of the story draws on a tragic part of the Bunyan mythology, in which the development of machines made even Bunyan's superhuman size and strength obsolete. Paul, Babe, and the children embark on an adventure to stop a greedy land developer.

According to IMDb, the movie is slated for release later this year. John Goodman is voicing the role of Bunyan and Kelsey Grammer »

John Goodman and comedian Jeff Foxworthy are the first announced voice cast members for Bunyan & Babe, a new live-action/animated movie in development at MGM and with Exodus Film Group. The southern host of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? will perform the dialogue for Babe the Blue Ox, Paul Bunyan's animal companion in the legend about the lumberman while Goodman supplies the pipes of the ax-man. MGM wants to have the movie out in theaters sometime in 2011.

In a move to update the story from its 19th century rural roots, the action will take place in the modern day. Malia Obama Declines to Appear in 'Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?'

16 July 2009 2:19 AM, PDT | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

Despite rumor suggesting that Malia Obama will appear in TV show "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?", recent report claimed the oldest daughter of U.S. president Barack Obama has actually declined Fox's offer. "Malia politely declined the invitation as it interfered with her school schedule," so it was said.

Malia reportedly was Fox's "first choice" when the network decided on who will be recruited as one of the five "classmates" for the game's new episodes. Back in September 2008, a transcript, which was claimed to be obtained from the show, hit the web. It revealed Sarah Palin being its contestant and staged to choose Malia as her classmate for an episode of the game.

The next episode of "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?" season 3 will be broadcast on July 17. The game, which takes a format based on grade-school level questions being asked to adults, is hosted by comedian/actor Jeff Foxworthy. »

What's the criteria for the family? How are the families chosen?

Reno Collier: They would make a video. They basically chose whatever they wanted to video themselves doing, as far as I know, just what I saw. So it was like, I guess, they would be at their house or they would be somewhere close to their house. They would go out, they would explain, you know, hey we're whoever their name is, where they're from, what their interests are, you know, kind of - a lot of it was they were competitive or you know, they - athletic, »

Letterman Apologizes To Palin -- Again

16 June 2009 12:37 PM, PDT | Studio Briefing - TV News | See recent Studio Briefing - TV News news »

David Letterman on his Monday-night Late Show apologized a second time for his joke about Sarah Palin's daughter. This time, he appeared less off-handed in his apology than he did last week. "I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception" by many viewers, he said. "It's not your fault that it was misunderstood, it's my fault." Letterman said that he needed "to do the right thing here and apologize." He concluded: "I would like to apologize especially to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the Governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke. I'm sorry about it and I'll try to do better in the future." Palin later issued a statement saying that she accepted the apology "on behalf of all young women, like my daughters, who hope men who 'joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve." However, on CNN's Larry King Live, comedian Jeff Foxworthy, who said that he was the father of two teenage girls, came to Letterman's defense. "As a comedian, you look at what Dave does," Foxworthy said. "You're trying to do this night after night, year after year, decade after decade -- at some point in the road, are you going to throw one out there you shouldn't have? Yeah." Indeed, Letterman himself remarked that he had received a phone call from his mother earlier in the day telling him that she was siding with Palin. And, in a feature, the Washington Post asked today, "Did Sarah Palin not notice when late-night comedians were making fun of her daughter's pregnancy last fall?" It quoted several of their jokes, including one by Letterman's now direct competitor Conan O'Brien, which came uncannily close to Letterman's own: "Sarah Palin is going to drop the first puck at the Philadelphia Flyers hockey game," O'Brien said. "Then Palin will spend the rest of the game trying to keep the hockey players out of her daughter's penalty box." »

Stogie and decanter of scotch in hand, Comedian Ron White steps away from Blue Collar comedy to star in this solo performance. It.s not for the kiddies as White makes some pretty raw observations, but they sure are funny.
