  • How do I get started using the IMDb List widget?
    Get started by clicking on the gold "get widget" button in the bottom right corner of the widget and then follow the instructions within the widget to create your own personalized list of names and titles.

  • How do I update or reconfigure my list of names & titles in the widget once I've embedded the widget on my webpage?
    You should configure a new widget and replace your old widget with the new updated widget. To do this, go to the webpage that is hosting your List widget. Click "get widget" in the bottom right corner of the widget. Click the radio-button for "Start with this list". Choose a color theme. Accept the terms and conditions and then click the "Create New List" button. On the configuration page you can delete titles from your existing list by clicking the red X to the right of the name or title that you wish to remove. You can re-order the list by using the gold up/down arrows to the left of the name or title that you wish to move. Add new names or titles to your list by searching our database for new names or titles. You can also change the widget headline by clicking on the drop down arrow at the top of the widget to the right of the current headline.

    Once you have selected the list that you want, click "Preview". If all looks good, click "Finish". Follow the instructions in the subsequent sharing menu to place the widget on your web page.

    If your old widget is also still displaying on your web page along with your newer widget, please remove the old widget after you finish configuring the new one.

  • How do I place the IMDb List Widget on my Facebook Profile?
    After you have populated your widget with your selection of names and titles, click the "Finish" button in the List widget configuration screen. This will launch the sharing service menu that displays a series of logos for possible locations to embed your widget.

    In the service sharing menu, click on the Facebook logo (a blue background with a white "F" atop). Then click the "Open Facebook" button which will open a Facebook page. If you are not logged into Facebook at this point, you will be asked to do so. Once you are logged in to Facebook, you will notice an image of a widget with a "Post" button underneath. Note that the display widget image is not an image of the widget that you actually created.

    To add your widget to your Facebook page, click the blue "Post" button. Once that is complete the Facebook window will automatically close.

    To see your IMDb List Widget on your Facebook profile, log-in to Facebook, then click "Profile". The widget will display as a Posted Item and also in your Mini-Feed. To view the widget you created, click the blue arrow play button in the widget image. Note that this widget image is not an image of the widget that you created, but when you click the play arrow, then you will see your personal widget.

  • What is the maximum number of names and titles that I can add to my IMDb List widget?
    The maximum number of titles and names that you can add to your widget depends on the total number of characters in the names and titles that you have added. So a list with a long title such as this will store fewer titles than a list with titles that have few characters, like this. On average, the List widget will store around 20-25 names and titles per widget.

  • Can I install the IMDb List widget as a Macintosh Dashboard Widget or as a Vista Desktop Gadget?
    No, the IMDb List widget only works on Internet pages rendered by a web browser. It is not intended to function as a desktop application, at this point.

  • How do I place the IMDb List widget on my MySpace profile page?
    To add the IMDb List Widget to your MySpace page, you can embed the HTML code for the widget in your MySpace profile.

    Here's how to do that: After you have populated your widget with your selection of names and titles, click the "Finish" button in the List widget configuration screen. Then click on the "embed" button at the top right of the sharing service menu which will generate the HTML code that you will add to your profile. Click the "copy" button to copy the HTML to your clipboard.

    Next, log into your MySpace account. Go to your home page by clicking on "home" in the top left navigation bar and then click "Edit Profile" in the center left box. Decide in which category you will display your List widget (for instance, "Movies", "About Me", "Interests"), and then paste the copied HTML code into the appropriate category box. Preview the section, if you want. When you are ready to commit these changes to your profile, click "Save All Changes" to finish the process. Hint: it's always a good idea to first save a copy of the contents of whichever category box that you're getting ready to modify, in case you want to roll back to the earlier version.
